JUNIOR CLASSES - between 20 weeks and 1 year old
Adolescent dogs typically lack self-control, reliability and an ability to contain their excitement. This class aims to help re-enforce basic skills by teaching reliable ‘acceptable’ behaviours instead of inappropriate ones in order to earn rewards.
Dogs will learn more self control in everyday situations whilst building a reliable ‘on/off’ switch.
GOALS
- How to say ‘please’ and ‘learn to earn’
- How to keep your dogs attention, sit, down, settle and relax
- Building on durations of calm behaviour e.g. sit, down.
- Walking on loose lead around distractions
- Coming away from distractions to re -join handler (re-call)
- Control around dogs and people
- Develop self control during exciting times e.g. ‘off’ during play, calm greetings with people and other dogs
- Controlled play, co-operative game – retrieve, tug
- Controlled exits/entry from vehicle, at doorways and gates.
